Exemption

You may apply for an exemption from the influenza vaccination requirement. Possible exemptions are:

• Medical
• Religious

Employees seeking a medical exemption should submit completed medical exemption forms (PDF) via email to fluvaccine@ecu.edu or fax to the Office of Prospective Health at 252-744-2417.

If an employee wishes to submit a request for a religious exemption, submit your online religious exemption request to the Office of Equity and Diversity.

An exemption working group will evaluate requests and determine eligibility for any exemption. The date for notification of approval or denial of exemption request is yet to be determined.

Students seeking a medical or religious exemptions should contact Student Affairs in their respective departments to initiate the exemption request process.  

Completed exemption requests must be submitted by October 18^th, 2023 to be considered. Failure to receive the vaccine, if denied an exemption, may result in appropriate disciplinary actions. The deadline to receive the vaccine is November 1, 2023.
